The Stadium Course is host to the FBR Phoenix Open in early February each year which is billed as "the biggest party on grass", and it is definately the noisiest and most rowdy. The course was designed by Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish and is a joy to play. Not exectly a pure desert course as it has wide fairways and the rough is mainly grass but the landscape of tall saguaro cactus and mesquite trees not to mention the occasional coyote give a desert feel to your experience. Precise approach shots are the key to scoring well, as the greens are fairly large but are multi-tiered with subtle undulations to test your putting skills. The par 3 16th is probably one of the most famous on the US Tour and is where Tiger got a hole in one which started the 10,000 crowd to throw as much beer as possible onto themselves and the course...Tiger has not returned.
